It is a five years project being funded by Islamic Development Bank and implemented by the ministry of Local Government and Microfinance support center.
The project has two components i.e component A ( infrastructural development e.g roads, clean water, construction of market shade etc) , component B ( is access to cheap and affordable rural finance) . This LEGS project is being implemented in only 17 districts in Uganda and Nwoya district is the only district in Acholi implementing LEGs project and the component being implemented is component B.
Since Nwoya district started implementing this project in the year 2019, 105 prospective beneficiaries applied for LEGs fundings and out of the 105 applications, below are the breakdown

1. VSLA groups 90
2. Cooperative society 07
3. SMEs 08

The total number of VSLA groups so far funded is 09 amounting to UGX 60,000,000.
